Volunteer

There are many ways you can get involved, from simply providing information to spending the day with hundreds of students!  You decide on the level of committment you can offer.

All our volunteers are fully briefed beforehand and are supported by the EBP or teaching staff.  Many of our volunteers return time and time again - they have such a good time!

    Teacher Placements in Industry

Continuous improvement in education places increased demands on staff, so training and development are more critical than ever. Placements enable teachers and other education professionals to learn more about their curriculum subject or management techniques, and provide time for reflection, planning and the creation of teaching and learning materials.

Registering with us is an expression of interest in hosting an education professional. It does not commit you to anything but will allow you, along with your local coordinator, to explore the opportunities open to you.

What exactly is a teacher placement in industry?
Professional development placements (formerly teacher placements) involve teachers, lecturers and other education professionals spending a day or more in a business or the world of work in order to develop themselves personally and/or develop the curriculum and/or their organisation. It also helps them keep up to date with employment opportunities and local business needs. This enables them to make sure that their teaching is informed and relevant to working life today.

    How long is a placement?
Professional development placements normally last one day. This is a minimum of 5 hours and can be spread over two half days.

    What happens during a placement?
Most placements are for groups of between 5 and 10 education professionals where one or more businesses work with their local coordinator to provide a tour of the company, presentations from a range of employees, an activity and time for the educational professionals to consider how what they have seen, heard and learned can be used in the classroom.
