Primary Enterprise
Welcome to the Primary section of West Sussex EBP website. Here you will find support and resources for enterprise activities for Key Stage 1 and 2.
Why teach enterprise?
Everyone needs to be enterprising in their lives so that they can solve problems, cope with change and uncertainty. Business looks for employees with enterprise skills, who can work in teams, cope with change and have good communication skills.
“Enterprise learning requires pupils to have opportunities to interact with each other, make decisions, take risks, realise that there is not one right answer to a problem and evaluate outcomes. The most effective schools saw the promotion of enterprise learning as a way of bringing about a general improvement in teaching and learning across the curriculum”. Ofsted
What is enterprise education?
“Enterprise education consists of enterprise capability supported by financial capability and economic and business understanding."
Enterprise capability
Enterprise capability is the ability to be innovative, to be creative, to take risks and to manage them, to have a can-do attitude and the drive to make ideas happen.
Enterprise capability is supported by:
• financial capability which is the ability to manage one’s own finances and to become questioning and informed consumers of financial services.
• business and economic understanding which is the ability to understand the business context and make informed choices between alternative uses of scarce resources.”
