Arun’s Most Enterprising Team is Chosen!

The challenge, set by Andy McTaggart from ALS World Movers, was based on the removal industry, with the participants having to demonstrate their ability in areas such as planning, quotations, and numerical problem solving.

Local business people acted as mentors and supported students and we would like to thank Barclays Bank, Enterprise Gateway, Onmi Brokers, CAM and Hels Bells Art & Illustration.

Chris Shephard, Business Parks Coordinator for Arun, said: “It was a really close-run contest as all of the students put together fantastic presentations. It was clear that they had all put a lot of thought and hard work into their pitches, and it made life very difficult for the judges”.

One student from each of the school teams then went on to compete for the title of Arun’s Most Enterprising Student. Working with Head Chef and his Assistant, students designed, created and packaged their own sandwich then sold them at the Arun Business Partnership’s Getting to Know You event hosted by Butlins in Bognor Regis. The students, all aged 14-15 years, worked through a long and very hot day to produce high quality products. Assistant Head Chef, Sean Wardle, together with Mike Dines from Kittiwake Developments Ltd and Richard Drake from Barclays Bank judged the students’ overall performance including how they worked in the kitchen environment to how much profit they made.

Laura James from Littlehampton Community School was announced as the winner with Alex Edwards from Felpham Community College and Harry Metter from The Angmering School as worthy runners up. Students, their teams and teachers will be invited to attend the ABP’s Awards in October where they will formally accept their titles and prizes!
