Arun’s Most Enterprising Team of students has been chosen!

In the 3rd stage of the 2010 Arun Enterprise Challenge, (full details) kindly hosted by The Greenpower Centre, the team from Felpham Community College won the title for the second year running.  Gary Treharne, Head of Business Studies at Felpham Community College, said: “I’m extremely proud of my team and it’s great that our school has retained the title”.

Their challenge, to design a sustainable classroom for primary pupils, was created in collaboration with several Arun businesses:

AM Designs – Leeza Aldis
Fordingbridge plc – Edward Way and Will South
The Greenpower Centre – Emma Tyler
Barclays Bank – Richard Drake

Jacqui Scerri, Education Business Partnership Co-ordinator who was part of the organising team, said “We really couldn’t have done this without the enthusiastic support and expertise of these businesses.  I can’t stress enough the value these events bring to the young people of Arun”.

The teams, from The Littlehampton Academy, Felpham Community College, Bognor Regis Community College and The Angmering School were mentored throughout the day by volunteers from Arun District Council, AM Associates and Hendesigns.

The winning team will be invited to collect their trophy at the Arun Business Partnership Awards in the autumn and have been given the opportunity to race a ready built Greenpower F24 kit car at Goodwood on 20th June with free entry.  The prize was provided by Greenpower, a company dedicated to promoting engineering and technology as careers to students aged 9-21 in any form of full or part-time education.

One member from each team will go forward to the final challenge in the summer to compete for the title of Most Enterprising Student in Arun.
