EBP Toolkit

In West Sussex, schools and colleges are working with local employers to bring learning to life.  This vital relationship is invaluable in supporting the successful development of our future workforce.  
West Sussex Education Business Partnership (EBP) has been dedicated to developing links between education and business for the benefit of both, and the local economy.  Thousands of students have benefited from employers bringing real life experience of work into the classroom.   

The EBP has worked with schools and employers in a wide range of ways – helping students to gain a clearer picture of what employers want, help prepare them for employment, and give them a glimpse of the vast range of jobs and sectors in West Sussex.  

For schools and students there are further benefits.  Engaging employers across the curriculum supports students’ understanding of different subject areas and helps them appreciate the relevance of investing in core skills as they plan their future.  It can help develop self-esteem, maturity and flexibility, and improve student attainment levels through raising aspirations.  Business involvement can also provide teachers with new resources to support the curriculum.

The EBP has developed a range of activities and resources schools can use with students to help them develop entrepreneurial, employability and life skills employers look for.  The EBP ‘Working with Employers’ toolkit includes many of these resources for use by anyone wanting to bring workplace relevance into the classroom.
